Long-Nosed Bandicoot Perameles nasuta
Long Nosed Bandicoots are nocturnal, feeding on insects, small invertebrates and some plant roots. Using their front paws they dig in the ground and use their long snout to reach insects. They spend the day in nests lined with vegetation in hollow logs or burrows.
They hop in a similar way to kangaroos using their strong hind legs. When fully grown they weigh around 1kg. |
